LINOLEIC ACID

What does it all mean ?

Benefits: Anti-aging, Hydration
Category: Omega-6 fatty acid

The primary fatty acid prevalent in the upper layers of the skin is linoleic acid, also known as vitamin F. Studies indicate that it’s a combating component and:

  • an antioxidant,

  • is restorative,

  • is calming, and

  • aids discolouration

Additionally, linoleic acid is the most abundant fatty acid in the skin’s epidermis and is used by the body to produce gamma linolenic acid (GLA), which helps regulate inflammation.

In the realm of cosmetics, research highlights linoleic acid as effective for skin restoration, antioxidation, and soothing properties. Some studies even suggest its potential in reducing discoloration by inhibiting excess melanin production.
